Lee C. Boling graduated in 1975 from EWSC (EWU) with a BA in Psychology.  His Father, Clare Boling, was a trooper in Othello from 1955 until 1961 and left the patrol to become an attorney.  Lee recalls his  father continually speaking about how great the Patrol was and going to the academy to teach.  Lee was commissioned with the 55th graduating class in 1978 and sent to Colfax.  He transferred to Spokane to help care for his mother.

He served as a motor officer, a mustang pursuit driver, FTO and FTO sergeant, member of the ODD Squad (Operation Drug Detection under the guidance of Sergeant Chris Boness and the Ritzville team), CDAT Team (riot squad), PIO, and HAZMAT Coordinator and instructor.   In 1989, Lee became a detective in License Fraud.  In 1990, Lee promoted to Sergeant and was sent back to Colfax.

After one year, Lee transferred back to Spokane to Detachment 1 - “the best-we ride.” Lee retired at the end of 2001 after 25 fantastic years with the WSP.  Lee has worked for the Washington State Liquor Control Board – now Liquor and Cannabis Board for over 13 years and has been on loan to ATF as a Tobacco Task Force Officer for over 10 years.  He has also been a Fire Commissioner with Spokane Fire District #8 for 18 years.  Lee and Barb have been married for over 36 years and have a son, daughter in law and granddaughter in Grand Forks, ND and a daughter, son in law, granddaughter and new grandson in Spokane.  Lee is proud to be a member of this great group of retirees.
